API spec 2W is the APIs spec Steel Plates for Offshore Structures, Produced by Thermo-Mechanical Control Processing (TMCP). It covers two grades of plate Grade 50 and grade 60 (the strength is in KSi so grade 50 has an MPa of 344 and grade 60 414 MPa). The plates are designed for use in critical potions of offshore structures which ASTM A529 GR 50,A529 GR 55 steel plate steel plate,ASTM Materials considered here are available in Grades 50 and 55 . Steel specimens shall be killed, and as such, be affirmed in the corresponding test report. Heat and product analysis shall be performed wherein steel materials shall conform to the required chemical compositions of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, copper, columbium, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and vanadium.
ASTM A572 Grade 50 mechanical properties decide the steel application. ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel is widely used in engineering structures, such as construction steel structure, mining machinery, trucks, pressure vessels, bridges, especially for construction and engineering machinery components that require good weldability and toughness. ASTM A572 Grade 50 vs. Normalized SAE-AISI 4140 May 30, 2020 · ASTM A572 Grade 50 vs. Normalized SAE-AISI 4140. Both ASTM A572 grade 50 and normalized SAE-AISI 4140 are iron alloys. They have a very high 99% of their average alloy composition in common. For each property being compared, the top bar is ASTM A572 grade 50 and the bottom bar is normalized SAE-AISI 4140.
